Tax Controversy & Litigation
Our attorneys direct and manage a wide array of federal and state tax controversies for our clients, ranging from audit and administrative appeals to trial and appellate litigation. We understand that some tax cases are best settled while others are best litigated.
We analyze each case and provide results-oriented advice to our clients. Our attorneys have extensive experience handling disputes related to income, sales and use, employment, ERISA, and estate tax examinations, as well as tax collection matters, such as offers-in-compromise and the negotiation of payment arrangements.
Our attorneys represent clients in tax disputes with the North Carolina Department of Revenue, other states departments of revenue, and the Internal Revenue Service. We have substantial experience litigating tax cases before state and federal courts, including the United States Tax Court. Attorneys in our Tax Planning & Controversy Practice Group work with our Litigation Practice Group in assisting our clients with any tax litigation that may arise.
